The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has developed a set of minimum requirements to be met in each Comprehensive Plan, environmental planning criteria being one of these requirements. These criteria address the protection of water supply watersheds, groundwater recharge areas, wetlands, river corridors, and mountains.
The Plan provides a roadmap to guide long-term use of this water planning region’s water resources and is to be implemented by water users in the region along with state agencies and other partners. This Plan will also help guide state agency decisions on water permitting and grants and loans for water and wastewater-related projects.
The Southwest Georgia Regional Commission (SWGRC) is working on an assessment of the housing conditions in Thomas County. The purpose is to provide a basis upon which community groups, residents and the local government can jointly develop an understanding of the housing situation. By presenting an overview of housing conditions as well as current demographic and housing concerns, this housing assessment can be the starting point in developing additional housing or focusing housing rehabilitation plans.
